Mission Emanuel RD is a non-profit organization, part of Mission Emanuel USA. It began operations in the Dominican Republic in 1995 with Jack and Georgia A. Larson, with the support of the First Presbyterian Church of Winston-Salem, USA. In its beginnings, MERD was linked to an educational project that had begun from the home of Javier De La Cruz and Rosario Alfonseca, a couple in the community of Nazareth. Mission Emanuel is a remarkable partnership of Dominicans and Americans; a true witness to how God can gather people (from different social classes, rich and poor, from different churches, with different gifts and resources) and move them in one direction to serve those in need in the name of Christ. Our ministry is done with the determined support of hundreds of volunteers who contribute and manage resources and invest countless hours of work behind the scenes to make the good news of Jesus Christ known in the communities we serve. Our ultimate goal is transformation.
